Here is more of what love is.
Love is walking into Out on the Lakeshore and having the entire community center team excited to see me.
Love is Gesa telling me female hormones are weird, and giving me a hug.
Love is waking up to a message saying your marathon PRs are from a person that no longer exists.
Love is Iron Mom looking deep into my eyes and telling me I need a break.
Love is an entire church embracing me and my second puberty.
Love is Wendy, not knowing what’s in my music collection, letting me pick music for Out on the Lakeshore.
Love is my sisters walking with me every step of the way on this hormonal journey.
Love is Alicia, not knowing a damn thing about how hormones work for trans people, wanting to learn.
Love is people making an effort and improving on my name and pronouns.
Love is Mimi Gonzalez letting me open up to her, even though I just met her.
Once again, not all hugs and kisses and EVERYTHING IS AWESOME, but the love and care I have received since coming out… makes my heart sing.
